Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) released 49 CFR Part 1552 Interim Final Rule governing Flight Training for Aliens and Other Designated Individuals; Security Awareness Training for Flight School Employees

Flight school employees that have a direct contact with flight training students must receive initial Flight School Security Awareness Training and must receive an updated recurrent training annually thereafter.

Compliance Dates:  

Flight schools that provide, and individuals who apply for, flight training in the operation of aircraft with a maximum certificated takeoff weight of greater than 12,500 pounds must comply with the requirements of this rule regarding such training beginning October 5, 2004. The training completion date for all training providers, regardless of aircraft size, is January 18, 2005. Any employee hired after 1/18/05 has 60 days to complete the training.
